A middle-aged siberian man living in a windy steppe, his life suddenly change due to a strange guest.
Absurdity and realism are combined together into a small wooden cabin where there's no room for hope.
Black Seed is entirely made frame by frame with oil paint on glass, each frame is repainted deleting the previous one. The making process lasted a couple of years and it took place in the EKA Animation Ateliers. This film is part of the final project for the MA in Animation at Eesti Kunstiakadeemia of Tallinn.
The inspiration for this short film came during a long trip through Russian Far East territories in February and March of 2012; starting from Tallinn by reaching the Pacific Ocean in Vanino, next to Sakhalin Island.
